How do I connect VisitPing to Open Dental?

Updated October 29, 2026 · VisitPing 3.3.2

Make a read-only database login with Open Dental's MySQL Manager, then enter it in Settings › Open Dental › Open Dental connection and press Test connection.

  1. On the Open Dental server, open the Open Dental program folder (usually C:\Program Files\Open Dental) and double-click MySQLManager.
  2. Add a user with permission level Low (read-only) and a strong password.
  3. In VisitPing, enter that user and password and press Test connection. It tells you whether the login is read-only.

The password is encrypted on the server and can only be read there.
